“Racial offence presented as jocular remarks, associating natural Black hairstyles to vermin associated with disgust and dirt, violates the honour and dignity of African-Brazilians and perpetuates the stigma of inferiority,” stated Judge Roger Raupp Rios.
Context of the Lawsuit
The lawsuit was initiated by state attorneys and the legal aid service, pointing to several separate remarks uttered by the former president during online broadcasts in during his term.
