Barça Forward Yamal Excluded for Newcastle United Champions League Clash
Young forward Yamal will miss Barcelona’s forthcoming European encounter facing Newcastle on Thursday.
The 18-year-old sat out the squad’s recent win over Valencia as a result of a hip issue.
This absence is linked to concerns about the extent of minutes Yamal received while on national team assignment with La Roja.
Yamal played for 79 minutes in his national team’s 3-0 win against Bulgaria on September 4th.
He also, was on the field for 73 minutes just three days later during a resounding victory over Turkey.
Barça however claimed a decisive 6-0 win against their opponents without their young star.
Barcelona chosen to leave out him in their selection ahead of their European opener at Newcastle.
Unavailable from the encounter are Spanish defender Balde with a hamstring issue and star Gavi, who is recovering from a long-term problem.
On a positive note, Netherlands midfielder De Jong returns available despite sitting out the previous match following international duty.
The Blaugrana enjoyed a strong campaign previously, securing the Spanish league championship and making the semi-finals of the Champions League before losing to the Italian side.
