Area Police
Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then located many other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations show the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.
City officials announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important representative stated the incident rendered him without words and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
